I fought in Viet Nam so they could spit on me when I came home. Guess that's the price of freedom. We had a saying in the Nam. For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a meaning the protected will never know.
The V is probably it. What I mean by drilling by hand means turn the drill bit with your fingers and try to work the wood out. It doesn't tale much to get the wood drilled out. If it is clogged by wood this will work. If it has been damaged and the hole clogged by aluminum thats a different story.
The speedo hole is along the front edge about 3 or 4 inches above the lower gear housing. I get wood chips in mine some times and usually use a .062 to .093 drill bit by hand to clean it out. Be careful and don't push the hose of in the lower unit.
Bassin has been slow but with the cool down this weekend it should really start picking up. Bill put my jackplate on for me. He's a good guy. Would have bought a Viper from him if I hadn't found this 912 first.
Love it. 10" jackplate really help, handling, holeshot & speed. Handles Oolagah great. If you sooners are ever up in the northeast let me know. We can hit Skiatook or Oolagah.
Starting the way they ended last year. Can't run & won't throw deep enough. Nate at least can throw the shovel pass. Just need to get Works & Kejuan in the open field a little more. Gonna be another nail biting season.
97 912 Savage DC with a 225 Merc. Love this boat. I added a 10" Jackplate that fixed the planing. This is a big comfortable boat on any water. Very fast also. I will definately buy another Nitro if I ever give up my savage.
I have the guest 2613 that is a 3 bank charger. It charges and maintains all 3 battery's. At 90 percent charge it trickles and then just maintains the cranking battery. It says it won't over charge.
I thought Hawk went belly up. They had some really bad finances last year. They are made in McAlester Ok. Good boat but I'm not sure you can get any warranty on hull ect.
Nichol's Marine quit selling them in Okla.
It was a very hard pull that almost pulled the wheel out of my hands. I have a hot foot and foot trim so I was lucky I had both hands on the wheel. I was only doing 55 and it wasn't an extra sharp turn. I also talked to a champion owner that had the same thing happen. It was an emergency turn or...
I put a hydrofoil on my 97 912 savage 225 EFI. Like you said What a difference in hole shot. The only problem is it is pretty dangerous turning sharp at high speed. I have since added a 10" jackplate and it has given me not only a good hole shot but also better handling and speed. The hydrofoil...
My name is Gary Taylor. I live with my wife Roberta in Collinsville, Okla. Work as Supervisor over Manufacturing Engineering group that builds composite panels for Aircraft and custom air craft interiors for Business size jets. I own a 97 Nitro savage 912 with a 225 HP EFI Merc. My wife loves to...
Are you sure it is the cap? I had a check valve that was leaking oil from that tank into my engine compartment. 225 efi Merc. Replaced it & the problem was solved.
I found the problem. It wasn't releasing the brake so the shoes were rubbing & heating up the wheel & hub. The bearings aren't hard to do but the unknown is.
