Rear Navigation Light Very Dim

Can anyone tell me a reason my rear running light would be dim? I have changed the bulb, cleaned the connection, check all wires....... No matter what I do the light is not bright. I have had people tell me they can not see me on the lake until they get close to me.

Is the white cover on the light dingy or discolored?

If you have tried stevens suggestion and still have trouble, it sounds like low voltage, have you checked with a voltmeter? If not, check for proper voltage with a voltmeter at the socket where your light pole plugs in. If you have good voltage there, check at the top of the pole where the bulb actually plugs in. You could have a bad pole light. Borrow a buddies and plug it in your socket just to be sure its good.
