I have had several boats and for the life of me I cannot understand what keeps the back of a boat from just falling off with all that motor bouncing and thrust of running. I really considered it when looking to replace my transom saver with a Lock and Stow and still don't understand how either of those helps anything if an engine has hydraulic trim. Could somebody clarify this simply for me? I mean it's just wood and fiberglass or wood and aluminum right?

Thanks for any insight

There are also runners that go from the transom forward that are attached to the bottom of the hull which spread the load as well.

Well that certainly splains some of it and I would imagine they carry much of the load. Thanks TRCM

Knee braces and cross supports are also integrated into many transoms to hold the weight and power of today's engines.
