Trolling motor rope handle

I have a Motorguide 67Lb thrust trolling motor on my '04 882DC. I broke the rope pulling the motor up the other day. My question is............ Is there any easy way to replace/install the rope without fishing the rope up through the small hole and etc.?

its pretty easy... tie a 18 inch piece of fishing string with a swivel on it to the new rope... drop the swivel in the hole once it drops down, pull the rope in and tie it off to the hole...then install the handle.. it takes me about 2 minutes from start to finish...

Thanx Mike, i think my buddy got me all set but i'll check in the morning, if not, i'll try your method.
