Instructionally Challenged - question about GPS

If I have a 500 0r 700 series HB Combo on the front of my boat, split screen with lake chart on one side, and sonar on the other, active side being sonar. If, while trolling, I run over "undocumented" structure can I mark said structure while sonar side is active, or do I have to switch to lake chart side and then "mark" it?

The "Mark" button generates a waypoint no matter what the view is.



The "active" side gets the short-cut menu for that view when the Menu button is pushed.

Thanks Wayne! do you have your 798 & 1198 networked? If so, how?

No, I don't use any networking. My boat is short enough that it is of no value to me.

I am very familiar with the waters I fish so just about any waypoints I have are due to making screen snapshots or recordings for teaching purposes.
