chick lake dam

just in case some of you guys like to fish chick lake or the river like i do. Please note:

Walkers dam has a crack in it and the lake level is down 4 ft and dropping a foot a day, the corps of eng, will determine in the near future if boating will be allowed in the river, because of a possible complete rupsure of the dam. it looks like it will be 6 months to a year before it is fixed.

Why would the corps not allow boating in the river? Wouldn't they restrict the lake instead?

My guess would be flooding? "possible complete rupsure of the dam"

And it may be like that for up to seven years!

Just read somewhere else that the Corps of Engineers is already working on the problem, and simply asks that people do not use the locks or go near the dam until it is fixed.
