At Idle speeds when shifting from forward or reverse into neutral without squeezing the Neutral Lock Bar the motor quits. Of course the bar must be squeezed to shift into gear, but must you squeeze to bar to shift out of gear so as not to shut off the motor?

Jim,
Sounds like your shift interrupt switch is sticking, the purpose of the switch is so you can get the motor out of gear easily by stalling the motor for a split second which takes the load off the lower unit.
