Wiring question

What is the recomended wire size for running wire from the battery to a depthfinder? I am going 15 ft from battery to the unit with an inline fuse. I am thinking 12 gauge is this correct? This is on my jon boat and there is no fuse block to connect to. Thanks.

Since most fishfinders dont draw more then a couple of amps 16ga should be fine. Runing a bigger wire wont hurt you any but its not needed.

Which battery are you going to use the cranking or trolling??

No cranking battery, electric power only.
