Just got back into town and picked up my new humminbird 788 ci . My old transducer is epoxied to the hull. What is the drawback from having it in the hull opposed to drilling into the transom?

Installing and removing it later are the only drawbacks that I can think of. If you do a good of installation it should last for many years and will lose very little signal strength.

Just be sure to call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468 and exchange the stock transom DualBeam transducer for one that is made to be installed inside-the-hull. That would be the XP-9-20-T if you want only the same DualBeam capability

The old finder was a OLD wideye . I am sure there would be no compatibility. Hummingbird will let me just exchange it? That would be nice . I was thinking of mounting it on the transom but I could see it getting costly ripping it off on logs a couple times of year!

Thanks for the help.
