Replace Motorguide with Minnkota

I have the original Proseries 50 on my 97 Nitro 700LX & am thinking of changing to a Minnkota Maxxum. My question is will the holes line up. I was told 4 holes should, is this true?

I also took off my motoguide and put on a fortrex and hold worked perfect. Just take off your side panels on the minnkota and you will see more hole that you can use.

See ace4u, I put a fortrex on my boat and took the side panels off and installed the trolling motor mount and then replaced the side panels. Works great.

Yes it is totally worth it, the battery life is way better.The variable speed control and soft start feature that comes with it is nice too.
