I just installed a temp gauge this morning for my bow moutned Wide Eye unit. I am wondering if the temperature of the running trolling motor affects the temp gauge reading? How far away should the temp gauge be mounted from the trolling motor's lower unit?

I've got the temp prob for my bow mounted Eagle Ultra on the TM housing and haven't noticed any problems. I've fished in 35and 80 degree water and it's always read correct.

Thanks for the reply Sam. I have mine mounted about 2 inches above the housing. I'm going to try it out tomorrow for the first time. I've been using a handheld temp gauge and it's gets to be a pain to use.

I have mine mounted right to the motor housing so it hangs below it. I've done this on two motors now and it has always worked.

I have mine mounted with the radiator clamp directly to the motor. It doesn't seem to make a difference. (X85 -vs- Zircom Flasher)
