got a new lowrance hook 7 .

the power cord has a plug for the power which i cant use. there is nothing to indicate polarity either on the plug or wire, how can i determine correct polarity and will the unit be damaged if connected wrong?
help wanting to get on the water and try this out.

in the jumble of wireing i got hold of a previous power cord . the hook power cord has no plug and the wires are black and red . install is complete and ready for the water.
