I love to fish, been doing it since I was 6, about 70 years now. I can't stop drowning worms and casting money to the wind. Lol I own a 2007 Bass Tracker Avalanche and am in love with her. The fastest I've ever been on water is at the helm of her, 73 MPH. Fishing is good in Bama, but I was raised in south Louisiana, the Sportsman Paradise. As a young man I stayed on the bayou, swamps and woods as much as I could. I give all my grandkids a rod and reel and teach them how to use it. I start them out on an open faced spinning reel. I know you think it's too difficult, but they take to it like a duck takes to water. It's not long before they're casting way out into the pond, river or lake. Well I got to go, a fish is calling my name. Keep a wet line and you'll always have fish in the fridge.

Gilesquivel,
Hello from Baton Rouge, Louisiana! Enjoyed your post. I'm 60 years in on the bass fishing and like you, started with the open face tackle- Mitchell series reels- 300's. I still use my spinning gear about 75% of my time on the water. The Pro's now recognize the advantages in salt and freshwater! Will be at Bayou Sorrel area this coming Saturday.
Water level is about to get right in the Basin now....
