I have one on my trailer. As long as you only use it for hooking up the boat to the trailer at the ramp. It doesn't replace the winch strap. I open mine back up after I have pulled the boat out and use the winch strap and a bow hold down strap while towing. If you leave the pin out while towing you could bend it. And then its a real hassle to use. Been there, Done that.

I got one from BPS a few years ago and ended up

sending it back. If you miss hitting the latch

on the first try and it trips, then you're in

for some trailer tongue acrobatics. The pin does

bend without too much effort. Perhaps on a light

boat, but I couldn't get it to work right with my

old 175TF.
