I have an extra cranking battery and was considering adding it to run the electronics on it. If I do, would I leave it independent or connect it to the cranking battery so the engine can charge both when running. The cranking battery is an Optimax and this one is an Interstate. Suggestions?

Jimmy,

Seems like a little overkill to me. Unless you fish for a week straight with your electronics on and never run the big motor or put it on the charger during that week then possibly. Otherwise, your just adding weight. Guess you could use it for a backup if your cranking batt dies (for which you could use one of your deep cycles to start it and get you back to the dock).
