Hey computer guys,

Anyone know of a good anti-spam download off the net that works or do I need to go the other way and buy a specific program that works well. I'm getting way too much spammail.

Thanks for any help!

Tom

Here's my read on anti spam programs. Most cost about 30 bucks the need to be updated often as spammers are the most dedicated of pest. Updating cost more money. And so on and so on. I once heard, maybe only as a joke, that the people who write the anti spam programs are the same ones who do the spamming. Spammers are clever and hard to beat by changing one character in a word they can defeat word blocking software. An example would be the word viagra they could change it to vi@gra and your blocker is defeated. The best way I found is to periodicaly change your email address.

I agree with fatrap. I have evaled a few anti spam programs for my company. the one i liked the most is called inboxer and its used with ms outlook. What i myself is i use outlook 2003 and i setup a trusted sender list and only allow that to get thru. i mainly use a yahoo address and i only gave my personal out to a few frinds yat that address still gets nailed. I also have 4 unused ones with my account that get hit too, once the spamers bust into a mail server its all over.

I don't think there is any great software out there for spam. If so, they would make millions. Just too many ways to get around the blockers.

Thanks for the info guys and gals.

I guess I'll endure it till I change my email address.

Hey Tom, one thing you can do to control junk email is use one email address as your personal address and only give that one to friends and family and have another email address that you use when asked for your email address on products you buy or services. I found this cut way down on the junk I received at my personal address.
