Anyone ever heard of a trolling motor battery developing a memory? A friend told me that I should only charge my battery every other trip if I don't use it enough to almost totally discharge it. Currently, I charge it overnight before every fishing trip and sometimes it is on the charger for several days at a time. I have a built-in dual charger.

I believe that batteries would take a memory years ago, but they are built with materials now that don't. In fact, I've always heard to recharge back to a full charge as soon as possible after a trip, regardless of how little they were used.

If it's a wet cell battery, no memory. Memory is generally related to NiCad type batteries. I always recharge after a trip, and usually do another one right before I go, if convenient.

Thanks for the info...I didn't believe him either but was not totally sure.
