I have a question. I have an 05 mercury 150 xr6 and it seems like it rakes too long for the water pump to kick in. It takes about 10 to 20 seconds for the water pressure to come on and shoot out the back. I had a new water pump put on when I bought the boat. Once eater starts to shoot out it does good. Sometimes it shows I have about 8-10 psi at idle and sometimes it shows about 2 psi. I don't know what the deal is. Is this normal or do I have something wrong? The motor does not smoke and it does seem to get hot. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Your engine thermostats have to open before you see much, if any, water pressure changes. What you describe is pretty normal.
