Toxic you were right. Only about 10 minutes to install. I have never put something on a boat that easy. Took longer to get the tools and clean the old skeg. Here are some pictures of before and after. Thanks and if anyone need to repair their skeg I would use this model. It looks great.

Your skeg looked like mine when I let Mini drive one day at the MVM. When I commented on it his reply was "Skegs weren't meant to have paint on them":lol:

TOXIC

That look's great Don!!! Here's my question..... What is the reason you decided to put the shield on? My skeg is in about the same shape, and I have not lost any performance. Is it just to look better, or is there a performance issue that you are trying to solve?

The reason was on my old boat when it started wearing it went fast. I had to replace it the old way. Taking the lower unit off and having the skeg rebuilt. I did not want this to happen to this motor. The reason I did it was I was on a lake about two weeks ago and my engine quit. All it would do was idle. I got into so rocks because I had no power to keep me out of them. That is when it chipped the skeg. So I went ahead and put the guard on in case this happened again. And yes it looks a lot better. I did not have any performance problems the way it was. Just doing it security reasons.

No need. All I will do is scratch that one up real bad :)

My questions for Tox, is it both glued and screwed on? Won't the two holes weaken the skeg at the top? What is the cost of those?

Thanks

Randy
