Just bought a new Humminbird 597ci HD. What are the best maps to buy Lakemaster or Navonics?

The "best" is the one that has the waters you fish.



Lakemaster has excellect maps for the limited places it covers.



Check each company's web site for a listing of coverage each has for where you fish.

I have the 587 ci HD and I think it's basically the same unit with a bigger screen. I went with Navionics Gold and Hot Maps Premium, Navionics Platinum wasn't available for the 500 series. But it does have every lake and salt water area I'd ever want to fish. It also has a computer app so you can plan your trips and scout new spots. I don't know about the LakeMaster Charts. Here's a screenshot of the area on Lake Ontario I plan on fishing.

Photobucket resized it and made it smaller but you can zoom right in and make the chart huge if you want (on the puter). These are all the charts that came with my area.

Lakemaster does not have a East or South chip.
