Well, I made it. Got to 71 (to Shreveport) about 9pm and there were fire trucks there blocking the road. Flooded, no way to get to Shreveport that way. Hmmmm, Teri is a tick below a quarter tank heading to BFE. I decided to go 15 miles out of my way and back to make sure I was able to fill up before taking the country roads. Better safe than stranded in "Children of the Corn" country. Ha! Did anyone see that movie???

Any way, can you say FOGGY!! I couldn't see two feet in front of my car BUT I made it and that's all that matters. I am shacked up at the Quality Inn somewhere and I will move to Hilton tomorrow. Even though I had to shell out the cash for the room, I am glad I didn't try to leave at 4am tomorrow. So far, this trip hasn't got off to a great start but it could have been worse.

I didn't know The Flaming Lips were still a group....(on Conan)...oh my, they still suck.

Oh, the best part....the rod rack I made for the interior of my car is AWESOME! I will have to post pictures when I get home. It's genius!

Registration is at 3pm tomorrow so I will learn more at that time. It is sooooo flooded everywhere around here. I can't imagine fishing a river but we are all in the same boat. No pun intended. Lol...I think I am delirious from lack of sleep.

Nite, nite. I will post more updates when I have something to tell.

I have heard that all public boat ramps are closed. I am sure they will make exception for your tourney though. Might be able to launch right from the Hilton! lol

Good luck girl, stay focused ALL day.

Good luck again Teri. Like Mini says, stay focused and play to your strengths!

Randy!

Alright Teri you made it to my home part of the woods. That stretch from Texarkana to Shreveport sucks to say the least, especially at night. And somewhere in the area is the legendary Fouke Monster, aka a Bigfoot wanna-be, or a couple of delirious drunk rednecks.

Hope all goes well for you up there. The Shreveport paper posted that all public ramps were closed. Clark's and Red River South should be open.

For something to do, the Boardwalk in Bossier is nice over by Bass Pro Shops. If you need a place to eat, check out Cobb's BBQ in Bossier, beef po-boy with cole slaw on it, you need a bath when you get done. And if you are a pizza nut, try Johnny's a local chain, hard to beat a Sweep the Kitchen!

Look forward to your reports!

Glad you made it safe.... Now have fun but fish hard and win!

Teri - Very glad you made it safe, and got gas before you ran into "the legendary Fouke Monster" going around the detours!! LOL

Fish hard, Fish safe, and Rip LIPS!!

Oh my, I slept until 10am. Guess I missed the free breakfast. lol

Got an email last night from the tournment director. One of them went out yesterday when she got here and decided we ARE having the tournament on the Red. They are having an "angler safety" meeting with us today at 4pm. Guess I should have brought my motorcycle helmet for this one. ha!

E5Zero, Fouke is exactly where I drove out of the way to get gas. A bunch of rowdy teens at the station but other than that it seems fine. I took 160 to 29. I would have made it to the Travel Center Casino on the gas I had but better safe than sorry. I snagged a Basspro brochure at the hotel so I will probably head over there today. Any good seafood restaraunts around?

Guess I better get ready for the day. I'll post more after the meeting. Have a good day!

Go to the Cross Lk. Inn OR Ralph and Cakoo's if it's still there,...man...I use to go there when i traveled for GM. AWESOME seafood!!

I remember Ralph & Kacco's from Houston, not as good as PapaDeux's in my bood, but a close second!

You will be OK..You have to win so go get them..I should of drove the motor home down and picked you up,At least I could get away from the cold.:)..Good Luck Teri...JR

Many Many good seafood restarants in the area.....for lunch try Kim's on the corner of Texas St and Benton Rd....great shrimp poorboys. It's just down from the Bass Pro to the east in Bossier City in a strip mall on the NW corner of the intersection.

PapaDeux's rocks!

I ate at the casino buffet when I was there for the Grand Opening of Bass Pro....Wally marshall is still talking about the 15 plates of crab legs I ate :)

Ralph & Kacoo's is not too bad. Cross Lake Inn is good, there is another catfish place on the west side of town, Jan's River Restaurant. You won't go hungry up there!

Here is the latest update from the Shreveport paper. I hope your safety people see this one.!

The Red River at Shreveport is expected to hit flood stage - 30 feet - by early Thursday morning and stay at that crest through Saturday, said Mike Berry, meteorologist at the National Weather Service at Shreveport.

He said this morning the Red at Shreveport is already at the warning stage, meaning flooding is occuring along Clyde Fant Parkway. This morning the Red was at 27.7 feet.

Berry also said the Army Corps of Engineers plans to close the Joe D. Waggonner Lock and Dam No. 5 south of Shreveport to boating and barge traffic, since waters will be above the navigation channel. Berry said this has not happened since the lock and dam was built in 1995.

At the hotel with everyone else, about ready to head to Academy for the briefing. "Rumor" has it we are moving after they went out on the Red today. Others say no way we are moving. I don't really care where we fish as long as everyone is safe. I do feel sorry for the women who spent tons of money prefishing on the Red. I will post an update when I get back. After seeing the river, I hope they move it. It looks very frightening.
