Help with strikes or lack thereof!

Went to Lake Michigan last night and my partner and I had follow after follow of huge smallies. The smaller 1-2lbers would hit pretty good. We switched colors, actions and baits but no action with the biggies.



What do some of you do when this happens?:wacko:



It sure gives you goose bumps to see 4's and 5's following your baits and then just swimming off!

I speed-up/burn/rip my baits after that and stand ready with a pitch bait (tube, weighted fluke, grub, etc.) to toss just out of sight and let dead-fall. If the speed up doesn't trigger them, many times the dead pitch just a hair out of view will. Good luck!
