I bought a 2008 901CDX new from BP-Cincy,OH, in 8/2011 with a 150HP Optimax DFI and have 35 hrs on it(see prev post "To Notro or Not" about 60 posts ago). I found a 2006 200HP Optimax rebuilt (new powerhead) by a reputable Merc dealer who'll take $3750 + my motor installed and give me a year unconditional warranty. I don't seem underpowered, but havn't run all gassed up, with live wells full, two men onboard, and alot gear in storage...all of which will be the case in the future. So my question is, should I move ahead? Nearly everyone's told me my 150'll be working awfully hard and I'll be underpowered and wish I'd done somethin eventually. Thanks for your advice!

I have a 2003 901 with a 2003 200 EFI. With a full tank and full live well it does take a little time to plane. Top end is around 65 to 67. Chris F.

The 901 has always been a little "finicky" when it comes to set-up. Even more finicky when you are not at max hp. Personally, I would not pay more for an older motor and 50hp difference. I would get the rig set up the best you can and live with it. Either that or sell it (should still have good value) and get something else. JMHO....
