Since it is Jerkbait season here in the Northeast, what type of rod do you use for jerkbaits? I use a 6'6" MH but have been wondering if this may be a little to stiff for use with treble hooks.

Paul-

Just watched KVD talk about fishing jerkbaits last Friday in Kalamazoo...

He prefers a rod that is fairly stiff until the last 18" or so....so it should have a good 'backbone', but with a softer tip...

He prefers spinning rods/reels for jerkbaits...

I have the Shimaon Crucial CRC-C70M I can use it for jerkbaits and for small lipless cranks also. Hope this helps.

I am with mike I prefer a Medium action either in a Fiberglass rod or a slow Grapite rod that way when I feel the fish hit I know he has a good hold of the bait.

I like 6'6" rods for jerkbaits, topwater, spinerbait, and crank baits. With a longer rod unless you are very tall keeps me from slappingthe water when i work a jerkbait or a walking bait.

I use an All Star Zell Roland Top Water Special (TWS). Made for topwater but I like it better for Jerks and shallow diving cranks.

For Jerks(Lucky Craft SP78's,Husky Jerks,Rougues) I like my 6' Medium Shimano Conergence.

I use a 7ft Medium heavy action rod for jerkbaits with a quantum energy baitcasting reel.It works good for me here in Pennnsylvania.
