I don't do a lot of crappie fishing but I've decided to start.I have several friends here that do and have gone out with them several times. Its always been a lot of fun.

My question is just what type of rod and reel is best?

Fiberglass med or light action? Maybe a small baitcast reel.

I have come to the well to drink from the vast pool of knowledge... or something like that! lol

I use an Eagle featherlite spinning rod with a Daiwa trigger spin spincasting reel. I can cast crappie jigs as well as just dropping then into brush. I have had alot of success in the spring casting my jigs to brushy banks that have steep drop offs or through standing timber and reeling it in slowly as it falls. This is a great combo.
