I have a 1995 Nitro 170-DC Tracker and the label on the motor says Tracker 60. Inside the boat is a decal which says the motor is 125 Horsepower. Before I noticed the decal I assumed that the Tracker "60" meant that the motor is 60 HP. Please tell me the meaning of the number 60 on my motor, and what is my horsepower? Thank you.

guess would be, go by the motor cowl number (60). The number on the rating plate in the hull should be a maximum HP rating of the hull. (a 60 on a Nitro 170? 60 is seriously underpowered boat)

Your boat decal plate indicates the maximum horsepower for that hull. This boat should have the 125 hp engine. I agree with Major. 60hp would perform very poorly. Engine covers typically have the HP number displayed. If not the engine has an ID plate down on the transom bracket that gives you an Identification number to indentify make, model, and HP.
