Ok all or (Bob B.), out on the water today I noticed my in-dash volt gauge showing very high. The normal range should be 12 - 14; mine is showing 16 - 18 (18 is max on gauge). Even at idle speed it's at 16, WOT it's at 18. I have 2 new batteries in with all connections tight. 1 battery for starting and accesories, 1 for trolling motor only. I do have a MinnKota 2 bank (5 amp ea.) onboard charger. I charge about 12 hours each night before fishing or, every 2 weeks if not used in that time.

Do I have a gauge problem or..............?

First think i would do is check it with a multimeter to see what reading you get with a different display source. Depending on what electronics (fish finders) you have, some of them show volage too. Had that happen on my car once, turned out to be a bad alternator. Man my wipers sure kicked it up a notch when they were working on 17 volts!! :D

No pro here but assuming your gauge is not faulty as Chris suggests you check, sounds like the voltage regulator is shot. You know Bob's first question will be serial number year, engine type and HP.....
