Back in my younger days, we had a group house on the Isle of Palms SC, I could see the ocean from my bedroom window, we were spot fishing on the North back side of the island and swimming across the back water was the biggest rattler that I have ever seen. He came up on the sand beach and rested, we did not distrube him/her.
Rattlers will swim in all kinds of water. This one was good looking and he/her stayed that way.

I've had em try to climb in the boat. As a matter of fact one tried when I took Sue D from GUEST out on lake Anna. I was more spooked by small gators when I was in Florida. The Manatees would bump the boat all the time.
