I have a mid-'90s, Mercury 90 HP, 2-stroke. I've been told that the sender for the trim gauge is in the vicinity of the trim cylinder or tilt tube. My trim gauge doesn't work and I have yet to find anything there that looks like a sensor or sending unit; even the parts catalogue doesn't list anything to send a signal to the trim gauge.

What should I be looking for and what feeds a signal to the trim gauge?
