TRAILER QUESTION

I have a 96 884 savage. After a long haul to the lake I was told to feel the hub on my trailer to see if the wheel bearings needed replacing. Well, I did and they are fairly warm but not hot to the touch. Thats normal right? Whats the usual amount of time on a trailer before the bearings need replacing? The trailer probably gets around 1000 miles or so a year.Any answers owuld be appreciated. Thanks
