Rich:

I finally got around to building the "Deluxe El Cheapo" line spooler that you shared with us in the "Grab Bag" section of the web page. I built it as shown but placed the reel seat so the crank is off the side of the board for a little more clearance. It works perfectly. I have so many baitcasting reels and I am constantly respooling them. The "Deluxe El Cheapo" should get the "top hook" award for a great idea.

Barry, glad it worked for you! When I built that, I was mostly using lefty baitcasters, so the cranking clearance was not an issue. If I am spooling a right handed reel, I just twist the rod handle to the outboard side a little and that gives me a bit more room for a right handed reel.

Thanks for letting me know you built it. Makes the contribution more worthwhile!
