Tampa, FL?

Anyone ever fish in the Tampa, FL area? Freshwater only.

Last year in May, I fished a two day tournament in Lake Tarpon, about 10 miles west of Tampa. Nice lake. We caught a bunch of fish. Nothing real big but lots of 2 lb'ers.

All of my fishing while I was there was in the northern neck of the woods Jax/Orlando. I'm sure Big Dan knows of a few fishin' holes, he's been all over the state. I did read a lot of guys fished canals around the Tampa area where they caught Peacock and Oscars as well as bass. Couple of colder than normal winters cut the "exotic" fish back a lot. I always wanted to trek down there for some Peacock but never made it. Work always got in the way!!

I didnt know thw Tampa area had Peacocks. I thought that was further south on the other side (Miami)
