I could use some advice on the best spot to mount my transducer on the back of my Z7. I hate that I will have to drill holes in the transom to mount it so I want get it right the first time. Should it be down close to the drain plug or on the same level? There’s like two different levels.

Any suggestions?

On my z7 they had it mounted here (square with arrow). Just stay clear of your bunks. My new boat they mounted on JP, but then you need to mount a 2d thru hull in bottom of boat for on plane readings.

A Tracker dealer suggested the starboard side. Is there any difference which side of the jack plate it’s mounted?
Kinda like the photo attached? I just put it there temporarily with 3M dbl stick tape. I plan to use one of those HDPE plates that glues on the hull then mount the transducer to it.

Did your unit work good on your Z7 mounted on the port side like that?
Yes, even at fast speeds. Now thats its on JP. I feel placement is personal preference and to me best cable management, but maybe someone can correct me. Again, just stay clear of bunks.

That location may be out of the water when your on plane, and wont reasd depth. I'd move to move it down so its flush/at the hull portion of the boat that is on the bunks. Look at picture it sent earlier.

Hope that helps.

Got it. That makes sense. I should be able to easily move it down just like your photo.
Appreciate the feedback. I’ll let you know how it does. Thanks so much!
