Okay, so everyone says the speedometers on boats are not very accurate BUT I really would like mine to work. On my Merc 115, the little hole in the lower unit would sometimes fill up with junk (like tree trunk wood?). I would merely clean it out and the speedo would work.

On my Merc 225, I don't have a little hole?? So, where does the speedo get the water pressure?? Further down the lower unit is the intake for the water pump but does it pick up the water pressure from there?

Thanks in advance for any help.

My 250 XB has the small hole in the front of the lower unit, and it is pluged right now too!

You should have a little opening about 4.5" above the front of the gearcase nose cone. Look closely. If plugged with debris, carefully disconnect speedo hose located near the trim pump and blow out with compressed air. The hose has a seperable union for just this reason. Good luck!

It's a tiny hole, hard to see, but Jack and Dan are right..............sa
