I have a 1995 180 f/s nitro with a 1977 175 evinrude. Bought it a month ago. Took it out for a run and gps it at 54mph. Motor was totaly rebuilt in 2004 runs great. Just wondering if that is the best top speed i'll get from it. The prop is 14.25 dia and 23 pitch. Aluminum. Light load in boat just 3 poles me and the wife 3/4 tank of fuel which is a 32 gal tank. Would a ss prop give better performance or should i just keep my money in my pocket. Oh yea that was running at 5100 rpm think max is 5500. Open to suggestions. Thanks.
