I HAVE A 115 TRACKER SERIIES MERC. ON '97 800 LXS. WHEN PUT IN REVERSE, JUST SLIPS AND MAKES CLICKING NOISE. RUNS NORMAL IN FOWARD GEAR. ONLY DOES IT WHEN BOAT IS IN THE WATER. WITH THE BOAT OUT OF THE WATER AND ON THE TRAILER, WITH WATER EARS ON, REVERSE WORKS FINE, PROP TURNS WITHOUT SLIPPING OR MAKING HORRIBLE NOISE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME????

I can only think of three things that might be causing this. 1. The shift cable needs to be adjusted to let the lower unit shift into revers all the way. 2. The reverse gears could be damaged. 3. and this is only a slight chance. The hub on the prop is damaged allowing it to slip. But I would think it would do it in both directions if it was the hub.

Hope it helps

John
