I have a 2001 Mercury XR6 200 went south. I’m planning on buying a 1999 Mercury 115 to replace will they just plug and play transom holes steering electrical connections.

Sounds like too much power difference.

All your connections will work but depending on the boat weight and length you might not get on plane easily or at all. Check the manufacturer recommendations for power ranges then the prop will have to be custom selected.
