Need some trolling motor help fellas. I have a Minnkota Maxxum 101 # thrust. It is workinging intermittently. Sometimes when I push the button it works, and sometimes it doesn't. If I slam it down hard or bump it against the boat it will fire up. Also, if I give the prop a little spin it will start.

From reading posts on other forums it sounds like a bad armature. Anyone know if this would be a hard job to do myself, or how much it would cost for a trolling motor guy to fix?

Thanks!

Do the have Brushes? If so that could be the problem.

sure brushes can cause intermittent issues like that, also switch contacts can be an issue too

Not sure how old it is but I got a letter in the mail from mercury on a recall for motors leaking around transducer pucks and causing motor to work intermittent. I might want to call them.
