Minn Kota Remote

I have a Minn Kota Riptide trolling motor. It is operated by a remote. When deployed, I get the green ready light. But when I try to turn on the remote, it works for 2 to 3 seconds then shuts down. I have tried pairing it, no luck. I put in a new battery, didn't help. What do you think? Purchase a new remote or??? None of the info I find on the internet addresses this type of issue. Help?

I might add, when depressing the 'learn' button and turning on the remote, I do not hear the 3 beeps.
