MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH NEW 288 SPORT

HELLO GUYS.IM NEW TO THIS SITE AND I NEED ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO.I PURCHASED A NEW 288 SPORT IN APRIL WITH THE OPTIONAL GALVANIZED TRAILER.I LOVE THE BOAT BUT I CANT KEEP IT FROM THE REPAIR SHOP LONG ENOUGH TO USE IT.FIRST TRIP OUT,I TOOK COMPANY FROM OUT OF TOWN WITH ME.BOAT RAN GREAT,THANK GOODNESS HE FOUND MY FRONT BOW ROLLER IN THE LOT AT THE RAMP SO WE COULD GET IT TO THE SHOP.DIDNT FIND THE HARDWARE FOR IT THOUGH.OTHER 2 ROLLERS WERE TOO TIGHT AND SCARED THE CLEAR COAT.GOT IT FIXED.SECOND TRIP,WENT OUT AT NIGHT WITH GIRLFRIEND JUST TO GET A WET BUT ON THE WAY BACK BECAUSE THE CANOPY WOULDNT STAY UP BECAUSE ALL THE SNAPS ON WINDSHIELD PULLED OUT.AND SNAP PULLED OUT OF THE FLOOR.THE DEALER FIXED IT AND IN THE PROCESS FOUND A CRACK IN THE FLOOR.IT WAS SMALL NO WORRY.JUST A STRESS CRACK.AFTER A FEW MORE TRIPS,THE WHOLE ENTIRE EDGE OF THE FLOOR WAS 1 BIG STRESS CRACK.WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE 20 HOUR SERVICE DONE AND AT THE SAME TIME LEFT IT SO THE FLOOR COULD BE REPAIRED.THEY SAID THE WHOLE FLOOR HAD TO BE GROUND DOWN AND RE GELCOATED.A MONTH LATER I GOT THE BOAT BACK AGAIN.HEADED TO THE KEYS TO DO SOME FLATS FISHING FOR A WEEK.BOAT RAN GREAT,GOT FISH AND STRESS CRACKS AGAIN,MOISTURE IN GUAGES,FUEL GUAGE OFF BY 1/3 A TANK.TOOK BOAT TO DEALER AGAIN.CANT GET TO FUEL SENDING UNIT WITHOUT TAKEING THE BACK DECK OUT OF THE BOAT OR CUTTING ACCESS PANEL IN IT.SAID GUAGES COLLECTING MOISTURE IS NORMAL.BROUGHT BOAT BACK HOME.CALLED COMPANY THAT DID THE FIBERGLASS REPAIRES AND WAS TOLD IT WILL KEEP HAPPENING UNTIL TRACKER APPROVES THE PROPER REPAIR INSTEAD OF JUST FILLING CRACKS.COST THEM 1600.00.HAD COMPANY COMEING IN TOWN AGAINSO WAITED ON GLASS WORK.TILT MOTOR WOULDNT WORK.THEM 150 MERC. OUTBOARDS ARE HEAVY LIFTING.OFF TO DEALER AGAIN. THEY GOT ME ON THE WATER THAT DAY.GOT SOME FISH.3 DAYS LATER TOOK BOAT BACK TO GET GLASS WORK DONE.OH WE WILL SEND IT TO BE FIXED THEY SAID.SCRATCHING MY HEAD NOW.CALLED NITRO DIRECT.THEY PICKED UP THE BOAT TO TAKE BACK TO FACTORY.NOW IM LOOKING AT ANOTHER MONTH AND A HALF WAIT.THIS IS GETTING OLD.I SHAKE MY HEAD EVERY MONTH I MAKE MY BOAT PAYMENT JUST TO WALK OUT IN THE GARAGE AND SEE WHERE IT SHOULD BE SITTING.I NEED SOME MAJOR ADVICE HERE.SOUNDS LIKE A TALE FROM THE DARK SIDE HU?THANKS
 
Welcome aboard Troy! Always good to see new members. Unfortunately I cannot help you out with your problems. I have never had any experience with warranties, new boats or dealers. Sounds kinda bad though. The guys on this board are awesome and you should get some encouraging responses if nothing else. The guys here will at least keep you entertained while you wait to get you boat back.

At least it sounds as though your dealer and Nitro are working on fixing the problems. As to the problems themselves, I'll let someone who may have more intimate knowledge of the particulars answer.



Also, when posting please DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS. It makes it very difficult to read. Just use it to emphasize something.

Troy, I'll echo what Tex said.....



It sounds like everyone is doing exactly what needs to be done to get your boat set straight..... Although I know that I wouldn't be real happy if I had to give up a new boat - or an old one - to have it sent back to the factory, that's just what has to be done.



Hang in there! You'll be well satisfied with your boat when it's all done!
