i have a 1989 1800 tf.i was wondering if cooler tempatures can affect the relays on the livewells. i bought the boat at the end of the season so i've only used it once. in the yard they worked on timer(warm day). on the water(cold day) they didn't work.i can do the work myself once the boat is out of storage.just looking for info, or some little trick to test relays. thanks stan

There is no way that temperature would affect the functioning of your relays.

i didn't think so, i'll check the wiring and replace them or the switches if needed. thanks. stan

..the older style relays (I've got a 1990 TF175)

which are a red cylinder with a four pronged plug

(or is it five?)may be affected by temperature...

when the pump is running the current draw "heats"

the unit until an internal "switch" opens and

shuts it off...once it internally "cools", the

switch resets and starts the pump cycle over...not

very technical, but that's my story and I'm sticking

to it!

mine has the red cylinders. if i need to replace them. are there any others i could use instead. again thanks for the info. stan

...yep...those red cylinders are $30 a pop....thank

goodness the livewell still works in manual without

them.
