I just purchased a LGC4000 external antenna and was wondering where I should mount it. I have a 2010 Nitro Z8. I do not have the remote oil fill so I was thinking about mounting it there.

Best place to mount is directly over your transducer. That is the main purpose of getting an external. If your don't put it over or at least near your transducer, you are just as well not getting it and using the internal of an HDS. If this is for a different model, it still makes sense to put it near the transducer to keep position errors for sonar marked waypoints at a minimum.

The oil fill is directly above the transducer so that should work out good for my dash unit. Does this mean I should use my internal antenna for my front GPS?

Ledpan, yes, if you have the front unit transducer on the trolling motor.

If you want the faster update rate of the LGC4000 at the bow, put another LGC4000 at the bow and hook it to the bow unit.
