John thought I start a seperate post rather than get involved with the dog fight below. I own a 2000 292 CDX which is about a foot longer than a 901 and have it out on Lake champlain many times in fact Rob has been a guest on my boat more than a few times .( Since he gets tired of eating our rooster tail -just kidding Rob). Anyhow the boat handles champlain fine and I've been out in some hairy stuff. As far as comparing the Nitro to other brands There is not one brand of bass boat out there that can claim never to have any problems that goes for triton, ranger stratos and the rest . I just joined a local club and spoke to a member who had major cracking problems with his Triton in fact his story is on Bass Boat Central's web site.I have had a few problems with the boat ut they have been minor. Is Nitro the worst boat out there as some on BFHP would suggest no but it's also not the best. I feel that the most important thing to consider is the dealer if you can find a good one then I feel that's the most important factor in deciding what brand to buy. This is my second Nitro I was never really happy with the dealer ,But the local ranger and Triton dealers were far worst than the Nitro dealer . It's like the old saying the devil you know is better than the one you don't know. Luckly I have found a new Nitro dealer who is great. Hope this helps if you have any questions feel free to e mail me at home. Buy the way you'll find that this is the best site out there ,they're a good group of people

the dealer and the factory both have a lot to do with it.i know,my 2 cents worth in it now..

remember, all boats,i dont care how much they cost, have problems, small or big,no,i repeat NO boat is perfect!i seen a $300,000 boat on a sailing message board having major problems, another was having problems with the diesel engines they were using,i think they were mann diesels, had a small problem, they blow up!!

my boat had a few small problems when i got it,but since im a diesel mechanic, and as we say at work,a dumb diesel mechanic, wont get into that here,i fixed the small problems myself,a wire loose, not crimped right, nut loose, screw loose.it doesnt take a rocket scientist to tighten a screw,a bolt, crimp a connector on a wire.

well,i guess some people think they are perfect and expect perfect stuff!!well,in this day and age, nothing is perfect!!i try to fix stuff where i work now so it is perfect,99% of the time it is like new,or better, but on the rare occasion,it is average, but hey everyboay has bad days!!

sorry for my 2 cents.didnt have change!!!!

I had forgotten about that. True, I rode in Tom's 929 in waves that would have killed me in my TF, probably 3-4 footers and the ride was amazing. And since the 1st time we went out, all I did was inspect his boat rather than fish most of the day, I can attest that there are no cracks that I have seen yet. And yes he does smoke me. But a 225 should over a 150. You know the $$$ those chemists make! LOL

Tom,

I second that...do your research on the dealer first.

John...I have a 901 w/ a 200 Opti (same as Mac's, I believe) and can't believe what a great boat it is. Have run wide open on Lake Fork in 25-30 mph winds and got hardly a drop of water on me (did manage to spill my coffee all over me, though!) Fuel mileage is AWESOME, ride is great and PLENTY of storage. Only wish I had a single console for that extra room up front (and easier to fight these HUGE East Texas bucket-mouths).

Hate to sound like everyone else, but they're all correct about the dealer being the critical link. I've owned many boats over the years and the majority of them were only as good as the dealer I bought them from. Since you're already a boat owner, it should be pretty easy to find someone at the ramp with a boat from your local dealer. Don't be afraid to ask them about their boat/dealer. One thing's for sure...we all love to talk about our boats!

Good luck!
