Guess I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new Z7, was wondering if it is worth the $380 for the jack plate. I am going to go with the 150 4 stroke. I am not that familiar with a jack plate, although I understand what it does. Not sure I really need it. Any opinions ? Thanks Guys, Gib...

You should be able to order a hydraulic too.

I have the same boat with a 150 Pro XS and no jack plate. The boat will perform fine without a jack plate too. It is very easy to drive up to about 55 mph, but it does start to chine once you get near 60. The jack plate might cut down on the chine walk at top end.

I agree with Doug. I added mine knowing I was planning on adding an LSS2, which I did last month.

Plus it's nice to be able to move it around to improve the ride, however my dealer did a great job installing it and so far I haven't changed it. Definitely worth the money in my opinion.
