When the gas guage on my 2001 TV 18 is showing almost empty, I can only add 23 gallons of gas. With the additional gas the guage will show full. The tank is supposed to hold 40 something gallons so something doesn't add up. Any suggestions?

Measure your tank for a rough estimate of volume.

Volume = L X W X H if memory serves me correctly.

gas gauges on boats are in my opinion are not that accurate I like the ability on my 929 th lift the back hatch and be able to see the tank it is one of the main reasons that I went with a 929 rather than a 21 foot triton .

Remember the old George Carlin routine about oxymorons - like "military intelligence"?

"Gas guage" and "accuracy", if I remember correctly, were about the 5th or 6th on his list!

Mike - The only way I know to truly check is to run the boat out of gas as much as you can on the water and then drain the remaining at home into a gas can so it is REALLY empty and then hit the gas station with a truly empty tank!
