I remember a few years back when they were being tried for production cars and rejected because it could cause epileptic seizures in some people viewing them. Cyclic light flashing is known to trigger people with epilepsy. I'm going to mount a led high center brake light on my motor cover because my stern hangs so far over the actual rear of the trailer and with the 10 inch jack plate the rear of the motor is about 36 inches behind the trailer lights. I'm with you about being paranoid that someone staring at a phone is about to rear-end me. I even have a traffic cone with bright reflectors to put behind my boat when it is parked. From the back my boat, motor, boat cover and trailer are all black and I park it on the street in front of my home about 125 feet from traffic roundabout exit and people race around that intersection.
