Hello, I have a 17' nitro bass boat with a 90 hp merc. When let off the throttle when on plane my boat acts like it wants to go under water. The nose want to act like it's not trimmed at all. This is quite scary. It may want to go right or left sharply when this happens.

A short turn to left is normal when you first let off if you let off whilr wide open can be a little un nerving but thats the tork coming off prop. The nose dive is motor drag. Either set to deep. Motor should tilt up if you let off all the way due to drag. If motor is locked in position so it can't tilt when reversing it can be damaged if you hit anything. should be free to tilt on its own

It seems you are talking non trimmable motors the trim system lifts and lowers the motor if you go back to manual lift then you have a motor that will bounce off submerged objects .nowadays the motors are locked in with the trim motor.
