90hp Mercury Water Pressure

I have a 2001 Mercury 90hp elpto just put in a new water pump kit. New water pressure gauge and hose and a new thermostat and popet valve.. What should the water pressure be. I'm showing 6# at idle and around 11# at wot. I read somewhere that it should be 2-4 at idle and 15 at wot?? Any body know.....

I don't know why it is so difficult to find the correct pressure but, it is. I looked all over and I did the same thing that you did replacing everything and the pressure was the same. I was even going to buy a new gauge until I found an article that gave the correct pressure. Unfortunately I cannot find the article again. I have a 90 hp Optimax. My pressure is almost identicle to yours which according to the article, that I can't find, is good. If I remember right the correct pressure was from 2-5 at idle and 11-15 wide open. I hope this helps.
