50 merc fuel filter change/2 stroke

I have not changed my fuel filter so after looking at it, I guess I have to remove the oil tank to get to it , right? Looks like two bolts, move out of the way and remove filter. I also would think this filter on the motor only removes trash not water, right? Why wouldn't they just install one that removes water also? It would be a selling point for the manufacturer that would do it.....thanks, kenny

merc recomends that all there engines have a water fuel separator since ethanol became so wide spread. If you dont have one, get one for x-mas. money well spent.
