After a morning on the lake fishing with Mrs Boss... who by the way skunked me 4 to 0... I noticed an oily film coming out of the trim switch on the side of the motor. After getting it home and wiped down, it appears the oil is slowly seeping from what looks like some sort of diaphragm where the DFI oil lines attach to.

I plan to research it Monday but thought I would post it and see is anyone has any ideas. The blue arrow is where I'm seeing the seepage...

Just so people know... the DFI oil pump is leaking. It can be rebuilt but is usually better to simply replace it.

Once it's replaced, the boat has to go to a dealer to be primed with a computer so it runs right. Otherwise it can cause major engine issues.

I really don't Ike my optimax right now. The part is $536.50.

So far the only place I can find locally to is $205 for the computer fee and $169 an hour labor with a 2 hour minimum... for a 15 min programming job.

Apparently this is a common failure issue in Mercury 2 sroke DFI motors.

An update. The part is on backorder everywhere. Apparently its a problem on Optimax and ProXS from 75 to 300 HP. Same pump for all of them. Oh yea... the price is up to $580.
